have you watched the movie king arthur?
if you havnt, let me give you a rough idea how it goes.
starts of at a distant land, where the people there are great warriors. a bit like sparta but not quite there. well, this land is the land where the warriors are gifted swordsman, naturally born to fight, given the ability to slay any enemy the wish to. however, they got colonised but the powers of Rome. These people struck a deal with Rome, to allow their people to live, the young boys of this distant land would be taken in under the Roman empire, trained to become the greatest of gladiators and serve the Pope. After 21 years (if im not mistaken) of service under the Romans, they'll be allowed to return to their people and the cycle goes on for their sons and grandsons and so on.
Ironically, these people are pagans. they believe in no holy trinity and fight for the sole purpose to live their deal and return to their families. The great 5 warriors (ke 7? ntah, aku x sure la plak) were stationed under the leadership of Lancelot. Lancelot himself was a fine knight, leading his Sumerian warriors to victory over victory, never treating them as mere pawns but instead his comrades.
as they drew to the final days of their deal, they succesfully accomplished a mission (which i cant remember what it was). but to their utmost disbelief, on the final day of their deal, they were given a mission, directly from the pope himself. the mission was to save a boy, the pope's favourite student who came from a wealthy family. the family however were in grave danger of the upcoming enemy, threatening to win over the land governed by the family. Lancelot being the true knight and bond to his duties towards the pope, had no choice but to lead his men into the grave danger. they were staring death in the eye since it was a 7-8man mission against a whole fleet of enemies.
sadly, 2 of them died in combat, being ambushed by the enemy. did they not only save the boy as ordered by the pope, the also saved the people in that area, ushering them out of the threatened place to safety. it was then that Lancelot fell in love with a Pagan women (kiera knightly) who obviously had contradicting beliefs as Lancelot did. They however did get together, the Sumerian warriors went back to their families and the pope getting his favourite student.
the scene that caught my eyes the most was the part when they went to save the boy from the rich family. that family were pictured as christian extremists, forcing the local pagans to uphold and beheart christianity. they had a crypt, used to torture the resistant pagans, starving them to death and killing them slowly. it was a dreadful sight, but there you go, even the movies picture how embedded torturing is in the anglo-saxon culture, just to fulfil the desire and interest of individuals. elsewhere in the world, our fellow muslims are tortured to death, humiliated and dehumanised, but still we Muslim are the terrorists. Our brothers are detained for years in prisons, with the excuse to be held until charges are made. they live in there, treated like animals yet where are the charges? Its weird how this world is. Just a thought to ponder on.
Anyway, if you see this movie (download je, torrent ada), be sure to capture the intrinsic message beneath the screenplay. But also for the fun of it, heroism, love and loyalty are also in this movie as well. if you like braveheart, i'm sure u'll like this.
